January 17, 2000 Jacksonville, FL-Landstar System, Inc., a safety-first transportation services company, announced today the promotion of Herman Fauss to Vice President of DOT Regulatory Compliance. In his new position, Fauss will be responsible for all aspects of the company's compliance with all federal regulations and guidelines.
Fauss began his career in transportation regulatory compliance in 1957 as a safety inspector and special agent for the U.S. Interstate Commerce Commission, an agency sunsetted by Congress several years ago. He joined Landstar in 1987 as a safety director in the company's over-the-road transportation services operation. He serves on the board of directors for the Northeast Florida Safety Council and is active in the safety efforts of the Florida Trucking Association. He holds a bachelor's degree in Transportation from the University of Georgia.
"Herman's extensive background and hands-on experience with state and federal regulatory procedures make him the obvious choice for this position," said Landstar Chairman, President and CEO Jeff Crowe.
